Artist Statement
In my work, I think most about color & shape, at the very foundational level, and, in a slightly more complex way, restraint, tension constructed and calibrated through the convergence of an image that is pronounced & language that is, well, not. I am an impulse/instinct painter. I go straight to canvas or page and let myself be pulled by momentarily possessession. Poetry is my practice for precision & premeditation, whereas painting is my practice for uninhibited impulse & instinct.
